Topeka’s Largest Luminaries on Display (Dec. 13, 2007)

Topeka’s largest luminaries (Christmas Lanterns), some reaching 70-feet high, will shine brightly Saturday, December 15 from 5- 6:15 p.m. just west of SW 6th and Wanamaker Road near the WIBW TV studios (631 Commerce Place.)

This holiday spectacular is the annual gift to the Topeka and northeast Kansas community by the Great Plains Balloon Club and is free and open to the public.

This "glowing" holiday display of hot air balloons will begin shortly before sunset at 5 p.m. and will continue until approximately 6:15 p.m., weather permitting. The public is invited to come out and witness these beautiful airships as they "illuminate" the evening sky with their powerful propane burners and majestic colors and photography is encouraged! Free parking is available near the glow site. The balloons will not launch, but will remain on the ground for public exhibition.
